IHOEP PROGRAM CERTIFICATION

The IHOEP Program Certification is intended to improve, promote and support home ownership education services and resources throughout the state of Iowa. The objectives of the certification program are to set minimum standards for home buyer counseling agencies and act as a clearinghouse and resource to home buyer agencies, lenders, Realtors, federal, state and county officials, and others who want information on home buyer counseling efforts in Iowa.
Beginning in May 2008, IHOEP members will be considered IHOEP Program Certified if they receive Certification through the National Industry Standards for Homeownership Education and Counseling. For more information on how to receive certification through the National Standards visit
www.homeownershipstandards.com. Once your agency has received the National Certification provide this information to IHOEP to be considered IHOEP Program Certified.
IHOEP Program Certification is required for the following:
- Prior to applying for a Housing Counseling Grant
- Prior to applying for an Anti-Predatory Lending Initiative Grant if the agency provides home ownership education currently or if the agency will provide home ownership education as part of the project that the agency is requesting IHOEP funding.
- Agencies providing housing counseling but refer clients to another agency for home ownership education classes need to receive IHOEP Program Certification in order to apply for either the Housing Counseling or Anti-Predatory Lending Initiative Grant.
Please consider applying for IHOEP Certification and be recognized by the IHOEP Board of Directors as a home ownership counseling agency that provides quality education in Iowa .
